This is a serious thing to forget. If you do not know the answers to the questions you chose to create or personal information you chose to answer that puts Parcom in difficult situation. We value our customer's security and privacy to the highest degree. More so than any other hosting company! It is important you do not forget your own birthday or your own mother's maiden name (whatever you chose) - because it only makes you look really bad and it becomes very suspicious to our team. Obviously!
The worst thing you can do is act angry about it... hackers do that ALL THE TIME. They demand action, they demand immediate access, etc....etc... If you do that too, you only make yourself look VERY suspicious to the trained security specialist here. So if you forgot all the passwords, all your own personal answers to questions you created - then we have to work with you to obtain information to prove you are who you say you are.
In cases of a laptop stolen, IPs can change so we don't necessarily look back at IPs especially if logged into the system from various wi-fi locations now a days. We look further. And we won't divulge our internal process and practices to figure out your true identity here for obvious reasons.
Best thing to do is:
- Be calm!
- Answer any questions our team will ask of you. Do not get angry. Do not be demanding. We're doing everyone a favor by saying this part publicly.
- Provide information/proof of identity promptly.
- Do not rate the analyst poorly or demand a supervisor (That is a RED flag!)
Failure to do so can force us to lock your account from further access to prevent damages. This is to also protect customers as we have seen messy divorces to terrible partnership break ups to cause very challenging account access requests! We've seen it all - the worst thing you can do is make it worse.
