Technical tip after you migrated your account

A great technical tip provided by a Parcom customer.  (This is as basic as it gets for issues dealing with caching.)

After you successfully migrated your newly migrated account to Parcom:

Please be sure to reset any routers/modems, your computer and web cache.  Sometimes you  may display a cached version of your site and not the new version.  Web cache can be on your own machine or via your ISP too.   We strongly suggest testing from multiple locations/ISPs to be sure you are seeing the newly migrated account.

Parcom cannot speed up or fix any caching done by ISPs who also have advanced caching techniques to save on bandwidth (a lot of ISPs do that!) so just keep that in mind that patience may be your only option there.

The best rule of thumb is to wait a full 96 hours for the entire Internet to know of the new location for your web site.  This is provided you updated DNS with us or your domain registrar of course.

Another tip:  Cancel any anti-spam solution for your old account IMMEDIATELY.   That way you do not lose email if outside systems or even our internal systems have "cached" the location of your mail.   We do not want you to lose mail, so even before that it is always best to notify us in advance before switching so we can give you a chance to reduce downtime by lowering the time to live for your DNS record to 5 minutes.
