Difference between legacy hosting and new cloud hosting

This is in addition to this page: New Parcom Hosting vs Parcom Legacy Hosting

This article is for Parcom customers who are considering our new cloud hosting services.

Parcom is building a brand new service for both Linux and Windows fans.   The current service, at this time, is Linux based so that can help the technical folks understand that real fast!   Windows hosting is coming soon.   So we appreciate your patience as for years we offered Windows hosting as most know by now!

For the most part, our new services can work for more than 90% of our clients because we found that of those 90% they were using what is typically on Linux systems.  MySQL and PHP for starters.   We designed the newer systems with that in mind because that was what people wanted.  Including the ability to run the most popular and FREE solutions such as WordPress and Drupal.   Those run great on Linux!

Our .NET fans are not left high and dry, we just had to first design the best linux experience and now we are working on a great Windows system that will blow your mind!

We like to keep it simple, so here is a short check list:

  1. If you only need PHP, then sure, our new services will work for you!
  2. If you are a ASP or ASP.NET fan, then please wait for our Windows hosting.  We appreciate your patience on this.  And if you want to be on our waiting list, just contact us as well as be our Facebook fan to know ahead of time when it will be ready!
  3. The past systems use PHP 4.   Our latest systems are now on PHP 5.
  4. Web based mail will be different on our new systems, so that can take some getting used to (but, the cool part is you get to choose from 3 different systems now! All to suit different preferences.)

That's the basics!  The best thing you can do is try it out!

Please let us know what questions you have via our support system and we will do our best to steer you in the right direction.
